Creative & Wellbeing Activities

We run activities for adults across East Sussex who may benefit from getting out, trying something different, meeting other people or simply having something enjoyable to do.

The activity itself is important. It gives people something to concentrate on and a reason to come together without having to sit in a room and talk about why they are there.

What we do changes from project to project. It might be painting or making something, simple crafts, games, storytelling, healthy living activities, learning a new skill or getting outdoors. We develop each project around the people it is intended for rather than offering the same programme to everyone.

You do not need to be artistic or have done anything similar before. Activities are explained as we go, and people can work at their own pace. Some people like to talk while they are doing something; others would rather get on quietly. There is room for both.

Nobody is being judged on what they produce. Finishing a painting, winning a game or learning a particular skill is not the point. The activity gives people a chance to use their hands and minds, spend time with others and, we hope, leave feeling a little better than when they arrived.

Who can take part?

Our projects are mainly for adults whose health, disability, circumstances or isolation can make it harder to take part in ordinary community activities.

Different projects are intended for different people. For example, our Creative Recovery Group is specifically for women recovering from domestic abuse, while our Stroke Recovery Group is for people affected by stroke and the family members and carers whose lives have also changed.

The individual project page will explain who it is for.

Privacy and safety

We do not publish every meeting place or session time on the website.

Sometimes this is because privacy is important to the people taking part. In other cases, we want to find out where there is demand before deciding where a group should be based.

If you are interested in a project, get in touch and we will explain the arrangements directly.

Interested in taking part?

You are welcome to contact us if you are interested for yourself, for somebody you support, or on behalf of an organisation.

You do not have to know whether a particular activity is right for you before making contact. Tell us what you are interested in and we can explain what is currently available.
